Company Profile
Acoustica® is a 100% Australian owned company engaged in research, development, manufacture, sale, export and licensing of leading technology sound control and abatement systems.
From humble beginnings in 1982 when perforated steel was a major component in noise control applications, Acoustica® has been pioneer in developing cost effective sound control solutions.
In 1991 Acoustica® was the first to introduce polyester sound and thermal insulating materials to Australia. This breakthrough with polyesters revolutionised the industry by overcoming health and recycling issues associated with the then existing products.
Also in the 1990’s SANIP (Sydney Airport Noise Insulation Program), the body responsible for overseeing the Federal Government Noise Insulation Program, adopted Acoustica’s pilot program implementation as the specification for all dwellings included in the insulation program.
In 2005 the NSW Government Minister, Diane Beamer, announced that Acoustica® had won the Excellence in Innovation Award for Outstanding Innovation for their new plasterboard wall system which, at half the thickness of conventional wall systems, delivered the best acoustic performance. Also in 2005 Acoustica® was accepted into the prestigious Australian Technology Showcase (ATS) for Revolutionary Technology for Acoustic Control. The ATS Showcase is sponsored by the Australian Federal and State Governments to promote innovative Australian technology worldwide.
In 2006 the Australian Marine Industry Federation awarded Acoustica’s Vybar® Marine, a commendation award in the Innovative Product of the Year category. Acoustica® is recognised as a leader of innovative and cost effective solutions with their products being installed in the first satellite tele-conferencing centre in Australia.
In 2007 Acoustica® was again a finalist in the Excellence in Innovation category of the 2007 Western Sydney Awards in recognition of their new fire coating and fire rated products which are not only 100% fireproof but also environmentally friendly; requiring very little energy to produce and containing a small amount of 'embodied energy'. The Western Sydney award was followed up by the nomination of Acoustica® as one of the ten finalists for the 2007 NSW Pitchfest for their Quitewave® revolutionary acoustic wall system and their Vulcanite® low cost fire resistant ceramic for use as a fire and water resistant building product.
In September 2007, 18 finalists from six categories were selected from over 650 nominations gathered at the Melbourne headquarters of the Primary Sponsor, PricewaterhouseCoopers, for the second annual Cool Company Awards.
These awards publicly acknowledge and celebrate Australian organisations that are doing things differently or defying convention to bring about positive change.
